We arrived in Paris at round 11:30 AM. We went
though Customs and immigration without a hitch. We hailed a taxi and headed to the
apartment. We arrived at the rental agency and signed the papers. We wheeled
our luggage over to the apartment (about 2/3rds of a mile). Not far bad but we
were exhausted after that. Now we need to stay up until we are ready to go to
sleep local time.
Our Appartment Next to the
“Pied Cochon” restaurant.
Once we settled in our apartments we told Tamie and
Darryl to meet us at the Louve pyramid at 4:00 pm but we made the mistake of
having a little lunch (I ordered the pigs feet, very French). For people that
don’t know, when you eat in France you dine. So they don’t expect you to eat
and run. This unfortunately would make us late to the Louve. So we called Tamie
to tell her that we would be late and to see if they would walk over to the
restaurant. They graciously agreed and trotted off through Paris. In the mean
time Anne and Shirley arrived from the airport and joined us for lunch. An hour
passed and we started to get worried. It should have only taken them 20 min to
walk over from the Louve. So we called them to find out were they were. They
said they were lost, so I asked for they’re cross streets and I found them on
my iPad. I went to that location and brought them back to the restaurant. Kensie
told me of her adventure when she entered a bar to ask for directions she ended
up in a bar fight! She had beer all over her jacket. A little unusual for the
first day, usually the bar fight come in on the second act!
At this point Anne, Shirley and CJ decided to finish
up their lunch and I went with the Tamie, Darryl and the kids to find Kensie a cheeseburger.
We found a small restaurant over on the Rue de Louve and had some lunch. After
lunch Tamie, Brandon and Kensie decided to go to a wine shop and said they
would meet us at the apartment. So Darryl and I show up in the apartment
socializing with the newly arrived Shirley and Anne (Time passes . . .). We
again start worrying because they have been gone for more then an hour. We had
thought that the wine hop was just around the corner from the restaurant that
we ate lunch at. So again we call Tamie. She aid that she was lost wondering
around Paris with no idea how to get back to the apartment. So we asked for he
cross roads and found it on my iPad and off we all went to search four the lost
Souls. We got to the location and we couldn’t fine them. So we called again and
she said that she now was at another location. We told her to stop moving
around so we can find her. So sure enough we eventually found them a good 3
miles from the apartment. Wow for the first day in Paris they have had a wild
and crazy time!
Well all is well now Tamie, Darryl and the kids were
off to their apartment again and we were off to a bar for drinks. Shirley had a
Groupon for drinks and appetizers at a local bar near by. We showed up at the
bar and had a wonderful time. It rained real hard while we were in there but
when we decided to leave it had stopped. We returned to the apartment and
settled in for the night. We went to bed at 11:00 PM, which means we had been
up for 28 or so hours.
Shirley explaining that we need more drinks.
The adventure has begun!
