Well we made it to Lisbon Portugal! It was a long uneventful but uncomfortable flight. When we arrived in Lisbon we waited for Shirley to arrive we got a taxi which took us to our apartment that we rented for 4 days. This apartment is a large apartment on the border of Bairro Alto and Chiado neighborhoods. It’s a great little area we have a lot of local restaurants around grocery stores we are walking distance to the Rio Tejo river. There’s access to trolleys, trains and taxi’s and our apartment is on a little pedestrian street so we have no cars driving by all hours of the night. When we arrived we met with the owner of the apartment which walked us around the area showing us where everything was. Real nice guy actually everyone we have met has been real nice. By the time we arrived at the apartment it was getting to be around 7pm so we went to the grocery store picked up a few things and headed over to a local restaurant that was just across the street from the apartment. This little restaurant was just a little hole in the wall the people were very nice and brought out a tray of fish that they got from the market and we got to pick the fish we wanted. We chose a large Grouper fish that feed all three of us. It was wonderful! We had a bottle of local Portuguese wine and at the end of the meal the waiter gave me a shot of this Portuguese liquor called Ginginha. It reminded me of Grappa but with a little more leafy and grassy taste. Anyway it was warm, very strong and burned a little going down. When we got back to the apartment we had a little night cap with some Vino Verde we picked up at the local wine shop and headed to bed. Being up for 36 hours we were a little tired.
